Graded Dance Classes (CSTD)

The CSTD

The Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD) had its beginnings in 1933 and today, the Society is an authoritative examining body whose high standards are internationally respected.  The CSTD is one of the main Ballet syllabi in Singapore currently.

Stepping Out Studios covers the entire CSTD syllabus and is an accredited examination centre.

Ballet

Classical Ballet is a structured dance form which provides the basic foundation for many other kinds of dance.  Using the CSTD Syllabus, the programme will improve posture, develop poise and coordination, and increase the attention span and musical awareness and appreciation of the student.  Expressive quality of movement is also achieved as well as body toning and muscle development and above all enjoyment.

Tap

Tap is a great way to exercise, to develop rhythm, style and coordination and is an easily accessible dance form for all ages.

From the traditional style of Fred Astaire to the more recent styles of tap dogs and stomp, this syllabus gives students a real feeling of achievement and prepares them for the intricacies of more advanced steps and choreography.

Contemporary

World-famous choreographer Jason Winters has collaborated with CSTD to create this new Contemporary technique syllabus.  With its building blocks in Graham Technique, Horton Technique, Ballet and Jazz, it combines a sense of movement, flow, energy, and breath that has been developed over years of exploration.

Contemporary dance truly offers young dancers the opportunity to be physically and emotionally challenged as artists.

Graded Dance Classes (Other)

Melody Bear Pre-School

Melody Movement introduces children to dance and movement using the natural actions of the body including running, walking, jumping, hopping, skipping and galloping.

It is structured to aid children’s physical development, coordination, spatial  awareness, sensory development, creativity and self-expression, working  individually with a partner or as a group.

Melody Movement also introduces children to other fundamental curriculum  learning skills such as counting, colour and shape recognition, vocabulary and language skills.  The strength of the system is that learning is achieved through imaginative movement which is enjoyable and fun.
